From Insurance Defense to Owning a Law Firm, I’ve Seen More Than Most 

I began my career as an attorney with a local insurance defense law firm, where I practiced commercial fleet litigation, appellate law, commercial and residential premises liability defense, first-party insurance litigation, and subrogation litigation. After that, I joined a local plaintiff’s personal injury law firm where I represented people hurt by the careless acts of others, as well as other family law matters. Afterwards, I established the Law Offices of Xavier Saunders and managed my private law firm for the next ten years. I’m proud to have successfully represented and advocated for so many clients.

All of that experience means I approached coming to Farah and Farah a little differently. When I was a kid growing up here, I remember Eddie Farah being the first lawyer I ever saw on TV. My first few years in insurance defense actually saw me put against Eddie Farah a time or two. Farah and Farah is a local institution and has obviously grown since I first saw them on TV. But, I couldn’t be prouder to work at a firm where I’m given the opportunity to flourish. There are so many tools in place to help get the best out of our team so that we can then give our best to the clients. Having worked elsewhere, I can definitely say a lot of other firms don’t provide the same level of support to their staff. I firmly believe that’s a driving force behind the firm’s success and something that starts from the top down.

I Have a Daily Goal To Help My Clients in a Meaningful Way 

When I was just a freshman in college, my mother was involved in a severe accident with a drunk driver. My mother was left with a lifetime of pain and difficulty from her injuries while the at-fault driver walked away without a scratch. That early experience made me realize firsthand that the victims’ and their families’ lives are truly changed forever after an accident. When I come into my office here at Farah and Farah in Jacksonville, it is with a purpose, knowing that I have the ability to help clients and their families through some truly tough times. 

Every day I meet with my team to come up with a new game plan for the day ahead. That can mean everything from preparing for mediations or depositions, drafting motions, or simply staying connected to clients by answering emails and returning voicemails. Over the years, I’ve learned that personal injury cases take a thoughtful strategy to secure the best outcome possible. That’s why each action I undertake for my clients is intentional to keep their cases moving forward. 

My Family’s Roots in Jacksonville Run Deep

Believe it or not, I am a 5th generation resident of Jacksonville and 6th generation Floridian. In fact, my extended family has lived in Duval County since the 1880s and in nearby Hamilton and Madison Counties since at least the 1850s. My third great-grandparents were enslaved here in North Florida. After the Civil War, they moved to Duval County, and raised their family in the Lavilla neighborhood of Jacksonville, where they were able to buy a house on Union Street.  Family really is everything. A case I’ll never forget also happened to be my very first where I formally adopted my stepson. 

I’m happy to have my own family rooted in Jacksonville, where my wife and I have raised our four children, along with two Great Danes, Atticus Finch and Scout, and welcome our five grandchildren over every chance we get. When I’m not busy at Farah and Farah, I love going to the beach and local gems like Hannah Park to fish, relax, and unplug. 

I’m also a big college football fan and catch all the action whenever my alma mater, the USF Bulls, or the FSU Seminoles play. I am proud that Farah and Farah puts such an emphasis towards serving our community. In our area, I’ve contributed pro bono hours and community service via the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA), Duval County School Board’s “5000 Role Models of Excellence”, and The Sulzbacher Center.
