Meet Douglas Shanteau
Douglas Shanteau is a personal injury attorney at the Jacksonville office. Douglas has a unique ability to take even the most complex issues with a case and help boil them down so the client always understands exactly what’s going on and where their case is headed. His relatable personality makes him extremely accessible both to clients and also younger attorneys seeking advice on how to best handle their own cases.
Winning Big Cases for Clients Starts with Trust
I just helped a husband and wife receive a $1.24 million dollar settlement for their auto accident case. I’m extremely proud I helped to lead them through medical treatment, countless injections for pain, and filing a lawsuit to get everything they deserve. But even big wins like these all start the same as any other case—with the client trusting me as their attorney to navigate their road to full recovery. I don’t take their trust for granted, and strive to keep earning it through every step of the legal process.
I try to remain approachable at all times, relatable, and as down-to-earth as possible so that my clients always have full accessibility to everything they need to get their case across the finish line. I am an experienced litigator which means I am fully prepared to take my clients’ case all the way through trial when necessary. Most cases don’t get that far, which is why being a skilled negotiator is how you can efficiently provide resolution that is in your clients’ best interest. I also work closely with our pre-litigation team to develop the best case possible from the start. After many years as a personal injury attorney, I’ve learned the more work we put in upfront, the more we’ll find and be able to seek on behalf of our clients.
What it Takes to Win Even the Toughest Personal Injury Cases
Farah and Farah is such a unique law firm. The atmosphere feels like you’re in a small firm, where everyone knows each other and works together to get the best results for clients. Unlike a small firm though, I have so many seasoned attorneys around me with decades of experience that I can use to advance my client’s case. I bounce ideas off of other Farah and Farah attorneys daily. We truly work as a team and Eddie and Chuck are just as much in the trenches as any of us. This level of support makes me so much more empowered as an attorney, which translates into success for my clients.
Beyond this immense level of support and camaraderie, I am very proud of my accomplishments in law school. Working through a tough program, I was able to receive a book award and best brief award in my research and legal writing class. I also received a “best civil team” award in trial practice, graduated with pro bono honors, and completed my law degree in the top 15% of my class.
What it Means Being a Trusted Jacksonville Auto Accident Attorney
Receiving a pro bono award in law school means you have to put in a lot of hours helping people in the community that generally do not have any access to legal help. Having spent so much time helping people through their legal issues, I’m proud to work in a firm that has been giving back to the greater Jacksonville community since day one with programs like the Empowering Greatness Scholarship. This program literally changes peoples’ lives. I love that my work as an attorney also changes lives and I work every day to ensure that people hurt in our community are given the opportunity to get everything they deserve for their loss.
When I’m not in the Farah and Farah Jacksonville office, you can almost always find me with my wife and kids on, or near, the water somewhere around town. We love spending time at the beach, fishing, kayaking, or riding the trails at Hannah Park.
