Ross Evans is a Jacksonville slip and fall attorney serving clients out of the landmark Farah & Farah offices on W Adams St, downtown. Ross has varied experience across personal injury and workers’ compensation, but his true niche is in premises liability cases. These types of cases can often be more complex, and it’s where Ross truly thrives. A skilled problem solver with a deeply analytical mindset, Ross is able to put the pieces together to discover exactly where a property owner was negligent to help his clients seek the maximum recovery due under the law.

From Software Startup to Premises Liability Attorney: Experience Matters

My career as an attorney has taken some interesting turns, but all of that experience has prepared me well to be a premises liability attorney in Jacksonville. The experience I’ve had over my career honed my skills as an attorney and made me better at what I do. Premises liability cases are often far more complex than a typical car accident and you need to think on your feet. We’re looking at so many different details simultaneously, each of which can make or break the case. I’m a very detail-oriented person and I thrive on the research side, putting the pieces together and helping determine who was responsible for your accident so I can help seek the maximum recovery available.

Right out of law school, I used a passion for software and engineering and founded a software startup working on high-level document automation for law firms. It was an incredible experience, but eventually, I moved on to a full-service law firm where I worked on personal injury cases, workers’ compensation, and premises liability. That was all plaintiffs’ work, where we got to represent those injured through another’s negligence in a variety of situations. Getting to know different practice areas and processes helps me better understand the best paths to seek maximum compensation for accidents at a property or place of business.

Handling the Tough Cases Is What My Job Is All About

One of the toughest cases I’ve ever handled involved the death of a child at a school. It was heart-wrenching to go through this case on behalf of the family who had lost so much, but no matter what I did as their attorney, they would never get their child back. Helping those who have been injured or even killed as a result of another’s negligence isn’t for the faint of heart.

I pull on my varied background of skills and different knowledge sources on a daily basis to help clients reach a point of restoration and true recovery. Often, we can’t give them back everything that was taken from them after an accident. But the reality is this: my job is to help people find closure and some amount of peace after traumatic experiences.

People come to attorneys because their situation isn’t one they can resolve on their own. My role is to help educate my clients on the legal process and develop a relationship with them. Litigation can take years, and I help my clients understand every step we need to take along the way as we work toward a resolution.

Doing the Research, Discovering Liability, and Arguing Your Case

To be an effective slip-and-fall attorney, you have to be willing to put in the work. There are so many different variables that all come into play when you have an accident at a property or place of business. For example, a puddle of water on the floor that someone slipped on at the grocery store requires an understanding of biomechanics and how their walk affected the accident, the store’s policies in cleaning up the mess and whether they were negligent, state laws concerning such accidents, and even the insurance coverage for the business and whether it makes sense for us to pursue a claim.

I pride myself on being able to dig deep into the details of the case and doing all of this research in order to put together a persuasive argument. My goal is to help others understand why my clients deserve every penny we’re seeking.

Downtime Makes Me a Better Attorney

My mornings usually kick off early with a workout, where I like to set the tone for a productive day. I cherish my morning devotionals–it’s a moment of peace and reflection before diving into work. On the weekends, I’m on my motorcycle looking for the next twisty road. Because I grew up in Texas, football is definitely in my blood. I’m a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan and will watch them every chance I get. But, when I need to really unwind, I find a creative outlet in drawing.

My girlfriend, Karlin, and I love spending time at Atlantic Beach with our loyal Labrador, Bree. Volunteering is a passion of mine, and I’m honored to participate in the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine events. Karlin works in oncology at the Mayo Clinic and inspired me to join her in the DONNA Marathon this year, which officially makes me an avid runner now. We’re also active members of the Church of Eleven 22, where we strive to live out our faith in all aspects of our lives.
