Fred Rushing is a personal injury attorney in Atlanta. As an experienced trial attorney, Fred handles a variety of complex injury cases. With experience in both insurance defense and plaintiffs’ litigation, he now focuses all of his talents on personal injury cases, handling various types of litigation, including auto accidents and premises liability.

Fred’s background in insurance and medical malpractice defense has given him an advantageous perspective. He knows the other side’s playbook because he used to draw up those plays himself. Nearly a decade of defending healthcare professionals also provided Fred with an amazing foundation in medicine. He leverages this experience to uncover every avenue available to achieve maximum compensation for his clients.

I Thrive in the Courtroom

Right after law school, I started working in insurance defense litigation for a large, national law firm. From there, I went into medical malpractice defense work, worked with insurance carriers managing claims, and finally made the leap to plaintiff’s work, where I counseled clients in automobile and premises liability cases.

All of that professional experience I built over close to a decade is put to good use with what I do now as a personal injury trial attorney. Getting to focus all of the knowledge, skills, and abilities I’ve built over the years solely in personal injury litigation is like a breath of fresh air. With all my time working with medical professionals, I’ve built up a vast library of knowledge, and I love getting into the weeds of the medical side of the case. I put those pieces together and tell our client’s story in front of the jury in a way that is easily digestible.

Bringing a Calm Presence to a Time of Turmoil

It may sound cliché, but I love helping people. Working in defense and with insurance companies, it feels like the only benefit to seeing a case resolved is padding the bottom line of some faceless company. At Farah & Farah, you actually see the results of helping ordinary people get through extraordinary times in their lives.

I’m a detail-oriented person and I believe that my attention to detail is a strong suit. Keeping tabs on all of these moving parts, like medical facts and how an accident causes injuries, helps me to be able to provide a sense of confidence and calm for my clients.

Accident victims are often in a terrible place when they come to us. They’re struggling and don’t know what’s coming next. It’s an honor to get to be that calming presence for them throughout the legal process.

Seeing Cases Through to the End

Something I really love about litigating cases is that I get the chance to see cases through to the end. Over my career, I’ve worked in both pre-suit, which is when cases first come in, and litigation, where we file lawsuits and take cases to trial. At Farah & Farah, I solely handle litigation, which means that I’m the one taking each case across the finish line.

Pre-suit work is vital and Farah & Farah has some amazingly talented legal professionals working on that side! I’m very thankful for our pre-suit legal teams but for me, I love being in the courtroom. Standing in front of the jury and helping them see the facts of a car accident or premises liability case, like a slip and fall, is a totally different atmosphere and right where I belong.

Great Results Requires Great Strategy

A case I’ll never forget involved a slip and fall at a national restaurant chain. My client was treated initially, but when her doctors recommended surgery, she became apprehensive and refused to follow the doctor’s recommendation. My client’s apprehension was caused by a previous experience in which she witnessed a close family member develop severe complications after surgery.

A phrase I have heard over and over in insurance defense was “hurt people treat,” and the defense wanted to use this as justification not to compensate my client. It took a lot of back and forth with the defense team and copious amounts of medical documentation to back up document everything, but getting her case in front of the right people paid off with a settlement to the tune of half a million dollars.

While my client was ecstatic with the outcome, the case could have had a completely different ending. My client was adamant she could not and would not have the surgery, and she was ready for the entire process to be over. However, by reassuring her and counseling her to stick with it, we were able to secure a fantastic outcome.

Time Away From the Office Is for Family

Outside of the office, I love watching college football (Go DAWGS!), and I am a huge fan of Chelsea F.C. I enjoy listening to music, reading, and spending quality time with my family. The Georgia Aquarium is one of our favorite spots around town to visit as a family.
