Independent Living Resource Center

The Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) of Northeast Florida has a mission to empower independence for people living with disabilities by providing employment, education and access to assistance programs. The ILRC fights to protect the rights of people living with disabilities and Farah & Farah’s support allows these individuals to successfully engage in the community.

Farah & Farah began supporting the Independent Living Resource Center in 2016 in the form of a $50,000 grant which was part of the ILRC’s first statewide campaign, 500 Founders. Each Center of Independent Living in Florida received a $1,000 Empowerment Award and the remainder of the donations went to the ILRC of Northeast Florida. “Our contribution can make a difference in someone’s life,” said Chuck Farah. The ILRC allows people to have a voice. They are agents of change.

In addition to annual financial support, Farah & Farah assists the ILRC through events and educational programs. Our Jacksonville office hosts events like career day where youth of the ILRC have learned about varying roles in the legal industry, from managing HR and intake departments to working in as an attorney or paralegal. The room is always full of questions on what it’s like to work at Farah & Farah and ways our firm supports employees with disabilities.

Eddie and Chuck joined the Youth Advisory Council of the ILRC in Tallahassee in 2017 for a day at the capitol to support the rights of people living with disabilities. The Youth Advisory Council is dedicated to learning and sharing how to pass along institutional knowledge of creating and maintaining rights to other individuals and generations to come. Lawmakers need to be aware of the laws they create or amend and how it will affect people with disabilities.

Keep an eye out on the streets early 2020 for a new project Farah & Farah is working on with the ILRC.
