Meet the 2025 Empowering Greatness Scholarship Winners!

At Farah & Farah, we believe in the power of giving back and investing in the next generation. That’s why one of the highlights of our year is announcing the recipients of our annual Empowering Greatness Scholarship. Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s profound words, “Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve,” this scholarship recognizes and supports young people who are already making a difference and poised to do so much more.

Read on to learn more about the scholarship and this year’s winners’ incredible achievements.

What Is the Empowering Greatness Scholarship?

Since launching this program in 2020, we’ve had the privilege of assisting 30 students with nearly $200,000 worth of scholarships. Including this year, that total increases to 40 students awarded with scholarships at a value of $455,000! These scholarships help remove financial barriers to higher education and foster future leaders who will shape a brighter tomorrow.

This year, we’re thrilled to introduce ten incredible high school seniors from across Florida and Georgia who embody what this scholarship is all about. Their powerful stories of personal resilience, academic achievements, and passion for their communities are indeed inspiring.

Our founding partner, Eddie Farah, is easily the scholarship’s biggest proponent. “The absolute best part of my year is calling these outstanding young people and telling them they won the scholarship, and their first two years of college are on us,” Eddie beams. “Knowing we’re helping empower the next generation is a moment of pure joy for me.”

Meet Our Florida Scholars–Two Years of College, Endless Potential!

We’re particularly excited about our Florida scholarship recipients this year, thanks to a collaboration with two amazing community partners, the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida and the Florida Prepaid College Foundation. Together, we’re providing two years of free college tuition to help these students kickstart their higher education journeys.

Without further ado, we’re pleased to announce this year’s Empowering Greatness Florida winners:

Tiana Williams (Fivay High School, Tampa)

Tiana’s application immediately stood out with her compassionate vision for healthcare. She wrote, “In my community, there are many people who struggle to get access to healthcare, and I want to be a part of making that process easier for them. Whether it’s in a busy hospital or a small clinic, I want to make sure that every patient I work with feels heard and cared for.” Tiana’s dedication to making healthcare accessible and caring for every patient truly reflects her true heart for service. Fittingly, she plans to pursue a career as an X-Ray Technician. Tiana has been accepted to Bethune-Cookman University.

ZaNiah Corbett (Gibbs High School, Tampa)

ZaNiah’s commitment to creating lasting change deeply resonated with our selection panel. “My education in clinical psychology will enable me to advocate for policy changes and interventions that address issues at both the community and systemic levels,” she asserted. “Ultimately, I aspire to be a catalyst for change.” ZaNiah is looking beyond simply having a job to having a career where she can make a better system for the community she’ll serve. We can’t wait to see the impact she makes with her future psychology degree. ZaNiah has been accepted to St. Thomas University, Florida Memorial University, and St. Leo University.

Aviyanna Johnson (Duncan U. Fletcher High School, Jacksonville)

Aviyanna’s passion for addressing criminal injustice shone brightly in her application. “I want to help more than just the people in my neighborhood,” she said. “I want to make a difference for people in my vicinity and even further. The criminal injustice I see day to day is something that bothers me a great deal. I want to be the change that stops it.” As a mentee with Big Brothers Big Sisters North Florida, Aviyanna is already on her path to making a difference. Aviyanna has been accepted to Florida State College at Jacksonville and the University of North Florida, where she plans on pursuing her goal of becoming an FBI agent.

Davonte Bryant (Port Charlotte High School, Port Charlotte)

Davonte’s aspiration to become a cardiac nurse speaks volumes about his dedication to helping others. Beyond his academic pursuits, Davonte enjoys studying psychology and sociology, crocheting, reading his Bible, and spending time with his family. He has been accepted to Florida SouthWestern State College, and we know he’ll bring his big smile, compassion, and skills to the healthcare field.

Amani Lester (A. Philip Randolph High School, Jacksonville)

Amani is a future Criminal Justice major driven by a strong belief in using education to create real change. “Education is a powerful tool, and I am committed to using it to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others,” she said. She plans to leverage her studies in criminal justice, criminology, and sociology to understand and address societal factors contributing to crime. A mentee with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Amani aims to become an FBI agent, dedicated to building a more just and equitable society. She has been accepted to Florida State College at Jacksonville.
