How to prepare for a social security disability hearing? Hi I’m Youssef Khanachet and I’m an attorney at Farah and Farah. There are many things that you can do in preparation for a social security hearing. The first and most important thing is to keep social security and your attorney updated on all medical appointments that you’ve attended so that the medical records are in the file and your claim can be properly adjudicated.
Additionally, it’s very important that you keep your contact information updated with social security so that they can contact you if they need additional information. Also it’s very important that you refresh your memory regarding your past work and what you did at each job that you performed in the last 15 years because the judge is going to ask you questions about your past work.
Lastly, it’s very important that you consider what you can and can’t do. At a hearing the judge is going to ask questions based on your conditions such as how far can you walk before you need to sit down and take a break? How long can you stand in one spot before you need to sit down? How long can you sit before you need to stand up and stretch? They’ll ask you questions such as what’s the heaviest thing that you can lift comfortably?
If you have issues with your memory and concentration they’ll ask questions about do you need to be reminded to take your medications. So it’s very important that you consider these things in preparation for your hearing.
