How does social security disability benefits work? Hi I’m Youssef Khanachet and I’m an attorney at Farah and Farah. Workers who pay into social security earn credits. These credits are based on income earned by that worker and these credits expire after 5 years so long as a worker has sufficient work credits and is determined to be disabled prior to those credits expiring then they meet the technical requirements for being disabled.
Once those requirements are met and the claimant is found disabled then social security will pay the claimant monthly benefits up until they reach retirement age. Upon reaching retirement age the benefits are converted to sociality retirement benefits. If you have any questions about how social security disability works please feel free to call us at Farah and Farah We’re here to help.
