Who is liable in a truck accident? Hi I’m Rick Staggard a litigation attorney with Farah and Farah. You’ll first look at three potential responsible parties for a truck accident. Number one’s the easy one, the driver the driver is the individual who caused the accident. The second one is the owner of the truck. In Florida, that owner is responsible for any actions of the driver. Third and finally is the motor carrier. That may be the number that you saw on the side of the truck at time of the accident. Below that name you will see a number and the words usdot. Those are the three responsible parties in the trucking accident. There may be others that are responsible as well but that will require investigation and that will require a knowledgeable truck attorney. Please call Farah and Farah if you’ve been involved in a truck accident.
