Farah & Farah Makes Major Donation to Support Individuals Living with Disabilities
Farah & Farah’s charitable support of the Centers for Independent Living began in 2016. We awarded a $50,000 grant as part of the nonprofit’s first statewide campaign, 500 Founders. The campaign resulted in each of Florida’s CIL facilities receiving a $1,000 Empowerment Award. The remainder of donations went to the Northeast Florida branch. Chuck Farah shared his thoughts, “Our contribution has the power to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life…this organization is a change agent, a force for good that helps people access their voice.”
Farah & Farah Hosts Career Days for Youth Through the Center for Independent Living
Farah & Farah continues to champion CIL’s work. We’ve hosted career days at our Jacksonville office, which provided CIL’s youth with a closer look at the different roles that make up a legal team. They learned all about the jobs of an attorney, paralegal, and case manager. Other departments, like HR, marketing and intake also provided youth with a closer look. These career days always spark thoughtful questions, and we love sharing about the work we do for our clients!
Farah & Farah Travels to Florida’s Capital to Advocate for People Living With Disabilities
Eddie and Chuck Farah traveled with the organization’s Youth Advisory Council to Tallahassee for a day at the capitol. There, they advocated for the rights of people living with disabilities. The Youth Advisory Council urged lawmakers to consider how the laws they create or amend affect those with disabilities. Here’s a video of our time at the state’s capital.
In our latest show of support for CIL, Farah & Farah purchased and donated a new transit van through Mobility Works. After Eddie Farah heard that CIL was renting transit vehicles every time they needed to deliver medical equipment to those in need, he took matters into his own hands.
Eddie immediately ordered the best wheelchair-accessible van on the market and handed the keys over to Tyler Morris, Executive Director at CIL. The van is used as part of CIL’s Temporary Loan Closet Program, which provides durable medical equipment for free to residents in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns Counties. The Temporary Loan Closet has wheelchairs (manual and electric), walkers, canes, crutches, shower equipment, and other items that can be loaned out on a temporary or long-term basis. This is a tremendous value for the community, and Farah & Farah was thrilled to support the CIL team in making the equipment more accessible. Check out a video of the transit van below!
