Necia Logan is a medical malpractice attorney in Tampa who brings a well-rounded perspective to her work. After building a career that spans both plaintiff-side and defense-side medical malpractice, she now focuses on advocating for patients and families with the benefit of having seen these cases from every angle.
A Career Built Through the Work
I have always wanted to be an attorney, but my path to practicing law started long before I earned my law license. After graduating from the University of Tampa with an undergraduate degree in Criminology, I found myself working at a law firm handling plaintiff-side medical malpractice. I genuinely enjoyed the work and assisting the clients. After 13 years and the valuable knowledge that I now had, I finally decided to pursue my law license.
Education and Commitment to Litigation
I earned my law degree from Western Michigan University – TMC Law School, and my Juris Doctor included a litigation concentration.
During that same demanding season, I was balancing more than most people would attempt at once. While attending law school full-time and working full-time, I also completed a Master’s in Legal Studies through Purdue Global. That experience reinforced something I still rely on today, which is the discipline to stay steady through complex, high-pressure work.
While I was in law school, I also clerked with the Chief Judge in Hillsborough County. That opportunity strengthened my understanding of how cases move through the court system and the importance of preparation, clarity, and professionalism at every stage.
Seeing Medical Malpractice From Both Sides
As an attorney, I spent 10 years exclusively on the defense side. In that role, my work focused on defending physicians, nurses, healthcare providers, medical groups, hospitals, and corporations in medical malpractice cases.
That defense background is not something I leave behind. I wanted a more comprehensive approach to my career, and I knew I would return to the plaintiff side with a deeper understanding of what it looks like to litigate these cases as a defense attorney. Medical malpractice is high-stakes and high-complexity, and the pressure is real. Knowing what to look for from a defense perspective and understanding the strategies that are commonly used helps me anticipate what is coming and prepare with purpose.
Now, I get to use that insight in a way that aligns with what originally drew me to this work: helping people who need an advocate.
An Advocate With Personal Understanding
Medical malpractice is not just something I know professionally. I have personal experience with it, too. A close member of my family has had to face the impact of medical malpractice. Because of that, I understand the emotion that comes with these claims. I understand what it can feel like to need answers, to need accountability, and to need someone who will take the time to help you through something painful and overwhelming.
That personal connection has stayed with me, and it is part of why I believe advocacy in this area matters so much.
Why Farah and Farah Felt Like the Right Fit
What drew me to Farah and Farah was the sense that it is a family-oriented firm with a client-focused approach. From what I had seen and learned about the firm, it was clear that advocating for clients and pursuing the best possible outcome for them would always be central to the practice. After years of working with corporations, insurance companies, and healthcare providers, I was ready to shift my focus back to representing individuals. I wanted to help the regular, average person who needs someone in their corner.
Farah and Farah’s commitment to involvement in the community was also appealing to me. I have been a longtime resident of Tampa and know this city. I know the attorneys in the area, and I have worked with them over the years. I believe that being a part of this community and having a reputation built through years of practice is meaningful, especially in medical malpractice work. Relationships, credibility, and local insight matter, and I am grateful to bring that to my clients.
Life Beyond the Courtroom
Outside of my legal work, I am a dedicated supporter of animal-related and military veteran organizations in and around Tampa. I have always been a pet lover, and I try to give back through charitable efforts with the Humane Society and other dog-focused organizations. My husband spent 26 years in the Air Force and currently works with the VA assisting veterans, which is something that is near and dear to our hearts.
When I am not working, you will often find me on the water. Boating is where I go to recharge and decompress. I hold a marine captain’s license, and my husband and I are out on our Blackfin as often as we can be, especially in the summer. That love of getting out and exploring also carries over to my time off the water. My husband and I love trying new cuisines and experiencing different cultures, and we travel abroad whenever we can. We are also the proud paw-parents to two German Shorthaired Pointers, Brady and Bella.
