Michael Orta is a Jacksonville personal injury attorney at Farah & Farah known for his careful, precise approach and steady commitment to client communication. Drawing on years of litigation experience and a deep familiarity with how claims are evaluated and resolved, he uses that perspective to help clients feel informed, prepared, and supported from start to finish.
Building a Client-Focused Foundation
My path to the law started in an unexpected place. I earned a history degree at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. After college, I spent a couple of years working on staff for my national fraternity. That role focused on leadership education, training, and a consulting-style approach to helping people solve problems. It shaped how I work with others by listening closely, staying organized, and creating a clear plan when things feel uncertain.
Next, I earned an MBA from William & Mary. I have always been interested in entrepreneurship and business formation, and that experience reinforced how much I enjoy practical problem-solving. It also strengthened the communication and analytical habits I still rely on as an attorney.
Even though I did not always know I would become an attorney, I have always been drawn to solving problems and helping people. I especially enjoy taking something complicated, asking the right questions, and finding a path that makes sense. As I learned more about what people face when they are injured, overwhelmed, or unsure of what comes next, the law started to feel like a practical way to make a real difference. Over time, I came to see the legal system as one of the places where people often need steady guidance the most, and I wanted to be the person who can bring clarity, structure, and reassurance when the stakes feel personal.
Putting Claims to Work for Injured Clients
Before focusing my practice on helping injured people, I spent years in a fast-moving litigation environment that demanded discipline, preparation, and attention to detail. Managing a heavy caseload taught me how to identify the issues that matter early, develop a clear strategy, and follow through consistently. Those skills are foundational in personal injury litigation, where thorough preparation and steady momentum can make a real difference for clients.
A major strength I bring to personal injury litigation is my familiarity with how cases are evaluated behind the scenes. I understand how decisions are made before and after a lawsuit is filed, what information decision-makers rely on, and how reporting structures can influence the path a case takes. I also learned that many disputes ultimately come down to communication, including knowing what needs to be presented, when it needs to be presented, and how to frame it clearly.
Now that I represent injured clients, I use that understanding to build stronger strategies and anticipate how the other side is likely to respond. My focus is on guiding clients proactively rather than simply reacting to what happens next. I work to make sure clients understand what is happening, why it matters, and what we are working toward, so they can make informed decisions along the way.
Empathy and Strategy Are Why I Chose Farah & Farah
If I had to describe my “superpower” as an attorney, it would be balancing empathy with strategy. It is important to understand what a client is carrying emotionally and financially, and it is equally important to translate that understanding into a plan that moves the case forward. My background helps me recognize how different stakeholders think and what they need to see before they will act, and I use that perspective to keep clients informed while keeping their case moving.
Before joining the firm, I had opportunities to interact with Farah & Farah attorneys, and what stood out to me was consistency. I never questioned whether decisions were driven by the client’s best interests. The firm felt focused and disciplined, committed to its values while continuing to grow in a way that made sense. That alignment is a big part of why I wanted to be here.
Recognition matters to me when it reflects how you show up for other people, not just what you have on paper. Being named to Best Lawyers “Ones to Watch” over the past two years was incredibly meaningful to me because it signals that peers and the legal community see the care and consistency I bring to my work. I also received service awards through Chi Phi and the Mason School of Business that reflect my long-standing commitment to leadership, accountability, and doing the behind-the-scenes work that helps others succeed.
Life in Jacksonville Beyond the Office
Outside the office, my time is centered on my family. My wife and I have young children, and most days outside of work are filled with the routines that come with that season of life. I enjoy being present for it, whether that means cooking dinner, reading together, building LEGO sets, working on puzzles, or playing board games.
I was born and raised in Jacksonville, and I am a devoted Jacksonville Jaguars fan. When I need to reset, I like being near the water and spending time at the beaches. I grew up on the St. Johns River and spent years rowing, and I still find that being outside helps me slow down and recharge.
