Adeash “AJ” Lakraj is an employment law and personal injury attorney in Atlanta for Farah & Farah. Working in two different practice areas, AJ has been able to leverage his experience in both labor law and personal injury in order to help guide his clients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. AJ uses his diverse skill set to secure the maximum compensation available under the law for those who have been wronged and deserve a voice.
How I Began as an Employment & Labor Law Attorney
In employment law, the injuries are typically the non-visible scars left behind after enduring discrimination or a hostile work environment. Still, these are just as real to the victim as if they were in a car accident and needed help obtaining compensation. Coming out of law school, I was hired by one of my law professors at their firm to focus on employment law.
From there, the shift from employment law to personal injury was natural for me. In personal injury, I’m still helping a victim pick up the pieces and move on with their lives. Going to work for a large national law firm, I gained a tremendous amount of experience which I then took with me to another firm where I could help clients in both labor law matters and personal injury litigation.
I’ve been working in personal injury and employment law ever since. I believe serving in two practice areas makes me a more well-rounded attorney for my clients.
My main goal is to be the best that I can be for my clients, and Farah & Farah provides me with everything I need to do just that.
A Voice for Clients Who Feel Like They Never Had a Chance
Something that really excites me about what I do is that I get to be a voice for those who feel like they never had a chance to be heard. After a workplace incident occurs, it can be downright intimidating to try to get the help you need to move forward with your life and your career. As a labor law attorney, I help clients receive the compensation they deserve after events like wrongful terminations, harassment, overtime disputes, and other issues that can occur in the workplace.
These lawsuits can feel like David versus Goliath when an employee tries to take on a large corporation. I help my clients stand on equal footing with these corporations and secure justice.
In much the same way, after an incident like an auto accident or a slip and fall, you’re facing a giant insurance corporation that will try to delay, underpay, or simply deny what should be a rightful claim. I love that I have been able to recover millions of dollars for clients who were wronged yet felt like they never had a chance.
Pouring Passion Into My Work
A trait that I believe every attorney needs to be truly successful is passion. If you’re not passionate about what you do as an attorney, it’s going to show in the results you get for clients. I invest myself from the get-go in understanding what my clients went through so that I can take a realistic approach to how we value their case.
Client relations isn’t just about making your clients happy; it’s about taking the time to see how their lives changed before and after their accident, and then using that information to develop the best case possible.
Life in the Big Peach
I love living and working in Atlanta because there is never a shortage of things to do. My wife, Isha, our son Ayush, and our German shorthair pointer Remy all love going over to Piedmont Park where we can take a stroll, hang out, have a picnic, and just enjoy a laid-back afternoon right in the heart of the city.
If it’s football season, I’ll watch just about any game that’s on, but I have a special place in my heart for the Atlanta Falcons. Whenever we get the chance to travel, scuba diving is at the top of my list.
I’m also fairly good at playing the drums and play in front of crowds often with the many Indian weddings my family and I are a part of. Growing up in an Indian family, I speak Hindi, which is just one more way I can help connect with someone who comes to our office for help.
