Truck Accidents Are Serious. We’re Here for You.
Based on their size alone, a commercial truck has the potential to cause much more serious damage than a passenger car accident. One car striking another car may result in minor injuries, while a truck striking a car under similar conditions could cause catastrophic injuries or even death.
Severe injuries such as broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, or amputations can require costly medical treatment, giving trucking companies and their insurers an incentive to minimize victims’ recoveries. Trucking companies will often use their own investigators and attorneys to defend against personal injury claims, so you’ll need a firm with the financial resources and connections to fight back.
When a truck accident tears your world apart, the Farah & Farah team is here to help you put the pieces back together. We’ll put our resources to work for you, fighting to maximize your compensation so you can focus on healing.
“Collisions with big trucks often have various serious and catastrophic consequences. In many cases, the trucking companies immediately deploy an accident reconstructionist and investigators to the scene. They have people who immediately get involved and do their own accident investigation, gathering evidence and talking to witnesses. In order to have a fair chance…you need professionals on your side. At Farah & Farah, we've handled many large truck cases involving semi-trucks. We have a team that can be sent out within hours of your accident, or as soon as you contact our firm. And we can have them on the ground to do the same thing that the semi truck company is doing.”

What Damages Are Available After a Truck Accident in Atlanta?
Truck accident victims can recover compensation for a variety of different losses and impacts to their lives. Available damages typically fall under the following categories:
- Economic damages: These cover straightforward financial losses, such as medical bills, future treatment expenses, lost wages, and property damage.
- Non-economic damages: These compensate for non-financial impacts to the victim’s quality of life, such as pain and suffering, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, disfigurement, and more.
- Punitive damages: A court may award them in rare cases where there is clear and convincing evidence of intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
- Wrongful death damages: If a loved one has died from a truck accident, surviving family members can pursue a wrongful death claim for damages such as funeral and burial expenses, loss of companionship, loss of financial support, and more.
Our Top Truck Accident Settlements and Verdicts
Some of our notable truck accident case results include the following:
- A $3.4 million verdict for a client who developed a herniated disk after being rear-ended by a moving truck
- A $2 million verdict for a man who suffered various injuries after being rear-ended by a 12-ton tractor-trailer
- A $1.5 million settlement for the victim of a semi-truck accident
- A $1.2 million recovery for the family of a man who died after being ejected from a vehicle during a truck accident
Georgia Truck Accident Laws and Regulations
Georgia follows regulations set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, or FMCSA, a set of rules and guidelines that commercial trucking companies are required to meet. Some of the more important rules that apply in Georgia include:
- Hours of Service – 49 CFR Part 395: Truck drivers are required to take 30-minute breaks after driving for a full eight hours straight. With some exceptions, they can only drive up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty, and must end their shift 14 hours after it begins.
- Licensing requirements – 49 CFR Part 383: Anyone operating a commercial motor vehicle is required to have a valid commercial driver’s license.
- Drug and alcohol testing – 49 CFR Part 40: Commercial trucking companies are required to test their drivers for drugs and alcohol before hiring and after accidents.
Our knowledgeable Georgia truck accident attorneys have experience navigating state and federal trucking laws and understand how to use them to establish liability in your case.
Determining Liability in Atlanta Truck Accidents
Truck accidents often involve multiple liable parties beyond the truck’s driver, adding a significant wrinkle to an already complicated and high-stakes case. The truck’s owner and the company operating it can also be held responsible for poor maintenance, failure to follow safety regulations, or the actions of their employees.
Other potentially liable parties include manufacturers and cargo companies, who can be held liable if defective vehicle parts or unsafe loading practices contribute to a truck crash.
Farah & Farah has a reputation for standing up to powerful insurance companies and getting the maximum compensation available for our clients. We can help you identify all liable parties in your Atlanta truck accident and pursue all damages you’re entitled to.
How We Help You Fight Back Against Unfair Tactics
In 2020, a Georgia man was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler just outside his driveway. Unable to return to work, he obtained legal representation and started pursuing a claim. However, the firm made little progress for almost a year, prompting him to turn to Farah & Farah.
Our team made an initial settlement offer of $300,000, but the trucking company attempted to pin our client’s injuries on work-related strain, denying any liability. However, the company’s own dash camera footage showed the truck driver was distracted at the time of the crash. In 2023, our team secured a $1.5 million settlement through mediation, delivering a life-changing outcome for our client.
This case demonstrates the lengths to which trucking companies will go to avoid liability, and how our experienced attorneys can help you hold them accountable.
We Handle All Types of Atlanta Truck Accidents
Big truck accidents are more likely to cause severe injuries than other types of collisions. According to state data, there were nearly 500 crashes in Atlanta in 2024 that likely involved serious injuries and 58 that resulted in deaths.
There are several types of trucking accidents, and many factors may contribute to a truck crash. These factors include the following:
- Driver fatigue: Truck drivers are often under immense pressure to meet unrealistic deadlines, and when they fall asleep at the wheel, other drivers may face devastating consequences.
- Speeding, unsafe routes, and aggressive driving: Those same unrealistic delivery schedules may lead truckers to drive too fast or too aggressively to meet deadlines.
- Failure to maintain lane or observe blind spots: Fatigued or rushed drivers may become prone to dangerous maneuvers, overlooking smaller passenger cars around them.
- Inadequate truck maintenance: It’s the owner’s responsibility to ensure a truck is safe to operate. Mechanical failures while traveling at high speeds with thousands of pounds of cargo can have catastrophic consequences.
- Improper loading or securing of cargo: Similarly, both the cargo loading company and the truck’s owner are responsible for seeing that the cargo is properly secured. Falling cargo may collide with smaller vehicles or create hazards on roadways.
- Distracted and impaired driving: The high-stakes culture of the trucking industry may lead drivers to abuse stimulants or sedatives that impair their ability to drive safely, and like other drivers, they can become distracted by phones or GPS devices.
Whatever the cause or type of truck accident, time is of the essence in getting the best legal representation on your side.
