Orlando is a hotspot for bicycle accidents. Bicyclists are among the most vulnerable roadway users and are likely to be hurt in a collision with a motor vehicle. Such collisions often result from negligent behaviors like speeding, distracted driving, or aggressive driving and cause serious head injuries, broken bones, spinal cord injuries, and death.
The insurance company may blame you for the accident when it wasn’t your fault. You have rights as a bicyclist. Our Orlando bicycle accident attorneys have helped people injured in bicycle accidents since 1979. We stand up to insurance companies and hold careless drivers accountable. Contact us today to learn how Farah & Farah can help you and your family.
Why Choose Farah & Farah’s Orlando Bicycle Accident Attorneys
Bicycle accidents can cause serious injuries that require years of medical care and rehabilitation. Your no-fault motor vehicle insurance may cover some of your losses if you have coverage. However, it won’t be enough to pay for the lifetime costs of serious injuries. To recover compensation, you must prove the driver was at fault. The driver’s insurance company may ignore you, lowball you, or even accuse you of lying about your injuries to avoid paying. Our bike accident lawyers can stop these tactics and make the insurance company pay fair compensation.
Our attorneys don’t work alone. They team up to fight for the results you deserve. Insurers back down when they see us coming because they know we care about our clients and will fight for them.
Our Local Roots Help You Get the Results You Deserve
Our Orlando personal injury law office may be small, but our attorneys have access to all of Farah & Farah’s resources. You’ll get the compassionate, personalized support of local attorneys with the results a large law firm can deliver. Our bike accident attorneys understand Orlando’s legal landscape. We’ve built relationships with local judges, attorneys, and insurance adjusters, giving us an advantage in settlement negotiations and litigation.
We’re proud to live and work in the City Beautiful and feel a moral obligation to give back. We want to improve our neighbors’ lives, starting with safer streets for vulnerable roadway users. We give free bicycle helmets to children at community events, and you can request a free bicycle helmet online.
Our attorneys have provided free legal services to Orlando area veterans, first responders, and teachers. They regularly invest their time and money to support schools, food banks, legal aid, and other worthy causes. Our community involvement makes us better lawyers because we know the people of Orlando, local resources, and how to help when the unthinkable happens.
"The clients are the heartbeat of our firm. Without the clients, where would we be? You gotta be able to understand where they are coming from as a client. To me, that’s the only way you can be a successful lawyer."

Are Helmets Required to Ride Bicycles in Orlando, FL?
Florida Statutes §316.2065 requires all bicyclists under 16 to wear properly fitted, securely fastened bicycle helmets. Orlando can be a dangerous place to ride a bike, and an accident can cause serious head injuries with lifelong effects. We strongly recommend that cyclists of all ages wear helmets. However, if you’re hurt in an accident without a helmet, don’t let it stop you from contacting our experienced bicycle accident attorneys. The law prohibits the driver from using helmet laws against you, and you may still be entitled to substantial compensation.
Legal Rights of Bicycle Accident Victims
Orlando bicycle riders have the same rights, privileges, and duties as drivers. Thus, drivers must watch for bicycles and exercise reasonable care to avoid accidents. Bicyclists must follow the same road rules that apply to drivers, such as obeying traffic signals. When riding on sidewalks, bicyclists must obey pedestrian crossing signals and yield to pedestrians.
Due to their vulnerability to severe injury in accidents, Florida Statutes § 316.2065 imposes the following additional safety requirements on bicyclists:
- Ride in bicycle lanes or as close to the right side of the road as possible.
- Never ride with more than two bicycles side-by-side; ride single file if riding side-by-side affects traffic.
- When riding at night, you must have a white light on the front of your bike visible for at least 500 feet and a red light on the rear visible for at least 600 feet.
"There was a little girl on a bicycle. She was supposed to stop at the stop sign. She did not, and the truck hit her. She's injured. Florida statute 316.13 says a driver must exercise due care to avoid colliding with a bicycle and must exercise proper precaution when observing any child. Even if you're going below the speed limit, even if you have the right of way and they have the stop sign because there are children in the area, you have to exercise extra precaution when going through that intersection. It really doesn't hurt to get a lawyer involved."

Compensation for Orlando Bicycle Accident Victims
You may be eligible for economic, non-economic, and punitive damages following an Orlando bicycle accident. Economic damages cover financial losses, while non-economic damages cover intangible losses related to your quality of life. Economic and non-economic damages may include:
- Current and future medical expenses
- Lost wages
- Lost earning capacity
- Bicycle replacement
- Pain and suffering
- Loss of enjoyment of life
- Emotional distress
Punitive damages are awarded to punish the defendant in rare cases when you have clear and convincing evidence of intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
The amount you recover will vary based on the nature and severity of your injuries, the cost of your medical care, and other unique case factors. We’ve recovered over $2 billion in client compensation, including a $250,000 settlement for the family of a man who died from a traumatic brain injury he suffered in a bicycle accident.
Can I Seek Compensation If I Am Partially At Fault?
According to Florida’s comparative negligence law, you can recover damages for your bike accident injuries if you are 50 percent or less at fault. However, your compensation will be reduced proportionately. For example, if you are 10 percent at fault with damages of $100,000, your compensation is reduced to $90,000.
Don’t be discouraged if you receive blame for the accident. The insurance company may say you’re mostly at fault to deny your claim. Our experienced Orlando car accident lawyers will perform a detailed accident investigation to prove you were less than 51 percent to blame.
What If My Child Is Hit by a Car While Riding a Bike?
As a family-owned bike accident law firm, we know how important your child is to you, and we’re dedicated to supporting you through this difficult time and getting justice for them. You may be entitled to compensation for your child’s medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost future earning capacity, and more if they are injured in a bicycle accident.
We Are There for You No Matter What Caused Your Bike Accident
Central Florida is one of the most dangerous areas in the nation for bicyclists. Tourists unfamiliar with Orlando can get distracted by their navigation systems or confused by the roadways. Commuters may lose patience with them and drive aggressively. Many of the most congested Orlando traffic areas lack bicycle lanes, putting cyclists in a position of sharing busy roads with cars. Drivers cause accidents through the following:
- Distracted driving
- Drunk driving
- Speeding
- Aggressive driving
- Failure to yield to bicyclists
- Disobeying traffic signals
Regardless of what caused your bicycle accident, we can help you recover the compensation you deserve.
Types of Injuries Sustained in Bicycle Accidents
Injuries from bicycle accidents can be serious, and we understand how difficult it can be to cope with chronic pain, new disabilities, loss of independence, and the financial struggles spurred by a serious accident. We’ve helped clients with many bicycle accident injuries, including:
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Broken bones
- Spinal cord injuries
- Paralysis
- Road rash
- Scarring and facial injuries
"After a serious injury, the most important thing is getting your attorney involved early. There are issues that come up when it comes to preservation, and preservation is a way that an attorney will be able to tell the at-fault driver or the at-fault owner that they need to preserve all the evidence. And sometimes insurance companies, if they don't have notice that they need to save evidence, will get rid of evidence. And so an attorney can step in early and make sure they're preserving all the evidence."
