Driver Crashes into a Pole in Jacksonville, Succumbs to Injuries

Posted on September 6, 2011

Channel 4 in Jacksonville, quoting the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), reports that a driver crashed his car into a pole Thursday morning, September 1, and was killed as a result. The accident happened on the southbound ramp of Southside Boulevard to Interstate 95. The driver was taken to Shands Jacksonville where he was pronounced dead. There are few details available in this report other than what one can see from the image online. The pole looks to be an aluminum light pole that is set off of the road. The driver would have had to drift past the shoulder of the road and onto the grass to come in contact with the pole.

Our condolences are extended to the friends and family of this man for his sudden passing.

Emergency Contact Information
There is very little information here such as a name, the age of the driver, or type of vehicle he was driving. Often law enforcement finds very little information when they arrive on the scene of a deadly accident. That means that loved ones may not receive notification of an accident in a timely manner. A lag in contacting a relative or friend may mean the difference between seeing a loved one in their final moments or finding out after the fact that they have died in an auto accident.

In Florida there is a database accessible by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and used by most law enforcement agencies. The Emergency Contact Information System gives the victim’s contacts in case of an emergency. All someone has to do is enter their contact information into the system online. This service is only available to people who hold a valid Florida driver’s license or identification card.

Farah & Farah encourages everyone to enter their contact information into the database to spare those they care about the grief of not knowing what has happened if they are involved in an auto accident in Jacksonville.
