What Are the Penalties for Meth Crimes in Florida?
According to § 893.03(2)(c)4 of the Florida Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act, methamphetamine, also known as ice, crystal or chalk, is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance and, therefore, is illegal to possess, sell or manufacture in the United States.
The state of Florida takes a hard stance on meth crimes and the penalties can severely impact the rest of your life. If convicted, your criminal record may interfere with your ability to get a job, go to school or even find a place to live.
Possession of Meth is a Third Degree Felony – Depending on the circumstances, your license may be suspended or revoked and you may face up to five years of probation, a maximum fine of $5,000 or five years in prison.
Trafficking Meth is a First Degree Felony – Depending on the circumstances, selling, manufacturing, delivering or possessing 14 grams or more of meth may result in a maximum of 15 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.
Do not accept the charges against you without hiring a strong defense lawyer to fight on your behalf.
