Pensacola Dentist Accused Of Molesting Sedated Patients

Posted on May 30, 2013

A 46-year-old Pensacola oral surgeon’s license has been restricted and a Florida Board of Dentistry administrative hearing has been scheduled to look into allegations that he sexually molested three young women patients while they were under sedation.

A Florida Department of Health (DOH) emergency order alleges that the dentist was seen engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior on four occasions — and had acted inappropriately with the same sedated 16-year-old girl twice.

The personal injury attorneys at Farah & Farah will not go into details of the behavior, but we find it disturbing that the oral surgeon allegedly was allowed to continue practicing  — even after the activity had been previously reported by assistants who had walked in on him engaging in the acts.

PNJ.com reports that staff had reported seeing the dentist engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior twice in November of 2012. The DOH emergency order alleges that his partners at the dental office had been informed about the allegations and had met in December 2012 to discuss them. Thereafter, a new office policy that a dentist could not be left alone with a patient was supposedly implemented.

Yet, staff members allege that they saw the accused dentist twice engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior on Feb. 20, 2013 with two young patients after he had been left alone with them. One of them had been the same 16-year-old girl the dentist had been accused of molesting in November 2012.

The DOH emergency order alleges that the other dental partners knew that the accused dentist sedated his patients at a deeper level than they did, which kept his patients under longer.

Under current license restrictions, the accused dentist may not treat children or women and he is not allowed to administer general anesthesia. He has denied the allegations.
