Legislature Looking At Safe Streets
Running a red light? Make sure you look up and smile at the camera that is taking your picture in order to send you a fine.
That is one of the more innovative proposals at this year’;s legislature.
And it’;s been proposed before but only passed for drivers under the age of 18. This time around another Senate Bill would allow law enforcement to pull over someone for not wearing their seat belt.
As it stands now, adults have to be pulled over for another separate offense before you can be ticketed for not wearing your seat belt.
Senate Bill 2162 would prohibit smoking in cars that has minor children passengers.
This is a pretty obvious one. Second hand smoke could be considered child abuse. So far no sponsor has stepped up from the House side. It’;s about time.
