Jungle Cruise Ride Injury Leads Valrico Woman to Sue Disney World
A 41-year-old woman, who alleges she was injured on the Jungle Cruise Ride at Walt Disney World, has filed a lawsuit, claiming that neck and spinal injuries she suffered have severely impacted her life.
The accident occurred while she visited the theme park on Jan. 8 for her daughter’s sixth birthday. The woman claims she was exiting a Jungle Cruise boat, when another boat full of passengers smashed into the back of her boat, causing her and her daughter to be thrown backwards. She was taken to the hospital with neck and spine injuries, according to The Tampa Bay Times. The suit claims a Disney employee was also injured in the crash.
The woman contends she has chronic pain and has not been able to work at her job as a licensed medical anesthetician since the accident. She sought the legal services of an attorney to protect her legal rights after informal talks with Disney broke down and she learned she would require two surgeries stemming from the injuries.
The Valrico resident claims she has trouble sleeping due to pain and has limited neck movement. “It’s a daily nuisance to do menial tasks that I used to take for granted, and it’s getting worse,” she told The Tampa Bay Times.
The suit seeks damages in excess of $15,000. According to her attorney, treatment for her injuries will cost “hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
A spokesman for Disney said the company would not comment on the lawsuit.
