Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident in Hernando County Kills Elderly Woman
A hit-and-run accident recently killed a Hernando County woman who was on an early morning walk. It occurred around 5 a.m. when the 67-year-old woman was walking near Barclay Avenue and Irving Street. She was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where she later died. The vehicle involved in the accident left the scene immediately after hitting the woman but left some debris behind which law enforcement hopes will help find the suspect.
WTSP TV News reports that the woman had suffered several heart attacks and religiously walked three miles every morning for her health. Her son wonders if she would be alive today if the driver had stopped. The public is asked to identify this hit-and-run driver and turn him into the Florida Highway Patrol at 813-631-4020. Ask for Sergeant Lee Frye.
There are nearly 700,000 hit-and-runs reported nationwide every year and unfortunately, Florida ranks third in the nation in the number of hit-and-run accidents. It is a driver who is under the influence, scared, driving without a license, or facing an outstanding warrant that frequently flees the scene.
With so many of these cases unsolved, the Florida car accident lawyers at the Farah & Farah law firm have decided to join Hit-and-Run Reward, a national program financed exclusively by American personal injury attorneys who believe if you report a hit-and-run driver you will not only feel good by keeping a dangerous driver off the road, but you could receive a financial reward of $1,000 for anyone you turn in who is later convicted of the hit-and-run. This program is offered in addition to the Crime Stoppers reward program, so doing the right thing could yield you $2,000.
Please help get these reckless and dangerous drivers off of our roads. The number for Hit-and-Run Reward is 1-800-644-8678.
