Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident in Hernando County Kills Elderly Woman
A hit-and-run accident recently killed a Hernando County woman who was on an early morning walk. It occurred around 5 a.m. when the 67-year-old woman was walking near Barclay Avenue and Irving Street. She was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where she later died. The vehicle involved in the accident left the scene immediately after hitting the woman but left some debris behind which law enforcement hopes will help find the suspect.
WTSP TV News reports that the woman had suffered several heart attacks and religiously walked three miles every morning for her health. Her son wonders if she would be alive today if the driver had stopped. The public is asked to identify this hit-and-run driver and turn him into the Florida Highway Patrol at 813-631-4020.
