Attorney Tampa, FL
Candace “Cea” Hartley is a personal injury attorney at Farah and Farah in Tampa. As one of the founding members of the Tampa office, Candace has been on the ground floor helping to build this rapidly growing location. Seen as a leader within the firm, Candace has a long list of personal and professional accomplishments to her credit. In the courtroom, she is the fierce advocate for her clients who need to get their cases heard, while outside of the courtroom her friendly and down-to-earth demeanor makes every client feel as if they’re part of the Farah family.
My Background Gives Me Boldness as an Accident Attorney
Throughout college and law school and even starting as an attorney, I’ve had so many different experiences which have really helped mold me into a successful attorney. I’m grateful to have worked at another large personal injury firm in Jacksonville and also to have interned with the Jacksonville Jaguars legal department during law school. In undergrad, I graduated Magna Cum Laude as a student-athlete, earning multiple athletic, leadership, academic honors, and awards, including being an ESPN Softball All-American.
In law school, I received Pro Bono Honors, a Certificate in Business Law and Legal Research and Writing, and received the FCSL Law Student Recognition Award for leadership as voted by my peers. All of these accolades and experiences were achieved because I flat out have the drive to win. Whether that was outworking my opponents on the field, doing the best I could in class, or now working through every detail of my client’s case, I never stop until I get the outcome I’m looking for. I believe my background and experience have prepared me well for what I do every day here at Farah and Farah.
I Take Ownership of Every Case I Handle
Because I’m the longest-standing individual in the Tampa office, I really understand the Farah way. That “work together, win together” mentality is why I act as if this office was my very own practice. With an auto accident, it can usually be pretty straightforward as to who hit who or what caused the accident. Premises cases aren’t always as straightforward and the injuries can be downright severe. Because of my experience in both areas, I know any accident case is always going to have its own fires to put out and something that requires my attention. But I thrive on this. I feel like I’m always growing and learning all the different angles that can be used to advocate for someone.
Sometimes the law isn’t in my client’s favor but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve compensation. In my experience, I have found that many simply aren’t aware of all the resources the law provides. I use my skills and experience to provide understanding for things like what their insurance policy covers, what the course of treatment will look like, and the plan of action for making them whole. I want every client who walks in my door to understand the process so they’re never left not knowing.
Taking On the Tough Cases Others Can’t or Won’t
I’ll be honest, there are a lot of cases that come into Farah and Farah that don’t look promising, that may need a lot of work, or that other law offices may have already refused to take on. It’s those cases that I love the most because I’m able to take a case that no one thought would go anywhere and still help my client get the relief they so desperately needed.
When people are injured in an accident, we’re not usually talking bumps and bruises, these are often serious, life-altering injuries. Seeing the after-effects of accidents every day, it definitely lights a fire for me when I first meet with an injured party. These people are really hurt and if I can’t help them, who can? That’s always my mentality.
Compensation, Recovery, and Closure
My call to service is to protect people from big insurance companies. Once we understand what we’re up against, we can put the fight to them and show why they need to fully compensate you for what you went through. My goal with every case is threefold—to get my client every bit of compensation that I possibly can for their accident, to help them find the right providers and get the treatment that helps them in their recovery, and to help finally bring them closure for their ordeal.
In one case that will always stick out to me, my client was an elderly man who was working as a handyman when he fell from his ladder on a job. His injuries were severe, with multiple fractures but other law offices didn’t want the case because the insurance company wasn’t offering him anything. This injured man wasn’t getting the treatment he needed and no one was managing his case for him when I took over. I found out he was a war veteran who was just trying to make a living, doing everything he was supposed to. In the end, I helped get him to medical providers that treated his type of injuries and got him $300,000 which was the full policy coverage from the insurance company, and provided closure to a case that no one else wanted to take on.
My Office is in Tampa, But I Handle Cases Across the State
Because of my level of experience working in different counties, I’m able to help coordinate the efforts between our attorneys and take on an even wider area in the state. I handle many accident litigation cases here in Tampa but also help our Orlando, Ocala, Gainesville, and Jacksonville offices, as well.
When I’m not busy working on a case in the Farah and Farah Tampa office, you can probably find me spending time with my husband and little girl. The Tampa Aquarium is one of our favorite spots with all of the different sea animals and outdoor areas that make for a really good nap time when we’re through. I’ve also coached softball, which I enjoy immensely, and may find myself doing again at some point in the future. If it’s during the softball season, you can bet I’ll be watching the action in some form.
“Candace Hartley impressed me from the very first interview. This award-winning scholarship athlete-turned personal injury attorney is just the personality needed to do really well at our firm. Cea knows how to lead and motivate those around her by setting the pace and her expectations for the team at a consistently high level. Her skills as a litigator coupled with a tenacity that simply cannot be taught are just some of the reasons she continues to achieve such a high level of success for her clients.” – Chuck Farah, Senior Partner at Farah & Farah
